A digital mythos
Meet my eldritch horror friends! They’re cute, cuddly, and some of them can eat whole galaxies in one chomp! One even has spines that spit reality warping acid! Lord Bingle Doodle Eater of Voids has a purr that reverberates through 14 dimensions and voids all your warranties!
These monsters started life as raw output from Google's Deep Dream, one of the first image generators to go mainstream. I fed Deep Dream a bunch of my paintings and had it generate some new ones. The results were pure trash, but there was something in the strange imperfections that I found endearing. Awkward like a new-born eldritch horror learning to spit acid.
So I took my monsters home and fed them Photoshop and Artrage, celebrated their wierdness and reclaimed their flaws. It's post-Deep Dream, but not post-human. And what does it mean to be human in an age of AI hallucination and cognitive overload?
This isn't horror. This is a celebration of errors and the beauty of our imperfections.
